Are we really free?

Have you ever thought why imprisonment is a punishment? Because nobody likes to be bound. We all love our freedom. Everyone, and that means everyone, wants to be free.

That's why countries pursue freedom struggles and wars of independence.
But no matter how much freedom we get, we seem to be wanting more. We are all bound in some way or other to someone or something. And so, we never really feel totally free.

This is because freedom is actually never outside. Freedom is inside.
And so is bondage.

We are slaves of our own thoughts, our desires, our attachments. We have no freedom at all when it comes to our own mind. Whatever we feel like, we helplessly do.

If we ever say no to our mind, it becomes so restless and uncontrollable. We feel miserable. Are we really free then? Think.

True freedom is complete non-dependency.

We call it the WOW principle.
WOW - With Or Without!

With what I want, wow! Without what I want, wow!!

This is not complacence. This is independence.
We expect the best and work hard for it. But, our happiness or agitation does not depend on it.

Think.

Practice for Today:
Try doing one think which is good for you but you don't like to do, and just do not do one thing which is not good for you but you life doing.

Quote for Today:
"Freedom is to NOT do what I FEEL like doing." - Swami Chinmayananda

What is Spirituality?

The only person with whom I need to live all my life, is me. If I learn how to manage, empower and evolve myself on a consistent basis, I am more equipped to live life. This is the purpose of spirituality.

Thus, spirituality is not really about doing your work efficiently or offering prayers or controlling desires. Those are all coronary. What is most important aspect of spirituality is "me". It is a science of self-management.

When we buy a new equipment - say a new smart phone - we first need to learn how to use it. If I don't know how to use it, the smartest phone also can be a complete nuisance!

Our mind too is an equipment with which we connect to the world, we think, we feel. But have we ever learnt how to use the mind or what its features are. Are we using all its features even?
Spirituality is a formal training in mind-management.

Our life is a journey. And it is a strange journey. Neither are we clear about the goal nor about the path, and yet we are moving on every moment. What is our purpose here? Why are we still breathing while every moment, many are dieing? THINK. Spirituality gives us the ability to draw a road map for life.

Hence, it is first important to understand that spirituality is nor something occult or supernatural or orthodox. It is an instruction manual for life.

Reflection for the Day:
Try to figure out why you are doing everything that you are doing. What is your real purpose?
